The House of Hallmarcos, Exhibition at “Until Never” 2009, Gallery. Melbourne Australia ~ Solo show by Marcos Davidson. Celebrating thirty years of continual practice, from 1979-2009. Featuring three major body’s of works “Sonic Selectors”, “Head Takers” & “Lapidum” .Including Paintings from the “Tablet” the Hallmarks in diagram. An Installation of objects from the workshop. And a sound work by Joyce Hinterding, recorded in the workshop via antenna, of the electronic fields therein.

'Boxman & Conehead'
Colin Brealy and Marcos Davidson gained popularity throughout Melbourne with their strange illustrated characters. They were inspired by German expressionism, cave painting, the Maya Codices, and the inspirational light of the New York stret and subway artist Keith Haring. Who they teamed up with on his visit to Melbourne. Their work was highly visible alng the train lines and on the yellow signage of the tram network, on almost every corner of the city center.

About the Show:

Salon Sideways was a chance to put together some new works from the studios of friends and artists working on shows for Until Never in 2008, and push 2007 out the door with a kick.

Marcos Davidson got into the spirit, installing his monster percussion lab Hello Kittee, comprising the best part of more than three drum kits and mutitude hand made and sawn-off percussive items.

For the exhibition opening, legendary drummers Victor Lancaster and Sean Baxter (Bucketrider) were enlisted to perform on the kit, freestyling while Al Stark drew live on the Until Never front window.

A new exhibition at City Gallery promises to tell the story about Melbourne’s coat-of-arms, seals, and crests. Melbourne Authentic – A curatorial and creative approach to the heraldry of Local Government be on exhibition at the City Gallery in the Melbourne Town Hall from 19 July 2006.

 

Melbourne Authentic is curated by Marcos Davidson – a famed goldsmith and jeweller who has been working in Melbourne since the 1970s. Davidson has exhibited in Germany, the UK, Japan, and locally at the National Gallery of Victoria.
